Today is EVE Vanguard's "First Strike" event, an early access preview into what we've been building in CCP's London studio. This first level, Carrion, is set on an alien world, recently scarred by the crashed wreckage of a huge Bowhead spaceship. Players are touching down amongst the flames and twisted metal, ready to fight over the scraps, and pick this shipwreck clean.

I've been working on the project for just over a year now, as its only Lighting Artist. Responsible for implementing and optimising Unreal Engine 5's Lumen tech, and delivering dark, atmospheric lighting that transports players to a new, but appropriately familiar corner of the New Eden Universe. The home of EVE for 20 years.
